Love Thyself

Jesus said," Love God with all your heart, and soul, and love thy neighbor, as thyself." With our world in such sad shape, it is obvious, that we all are feeling pretty crappy about ourselves.
Think about it, it should be natural to love yourself, you fight to stay alive everyday; but how many of us really do love ourselves, in the way that Jesus meant?
Everyone has some issues with them self. Let's face it, no one is perfect.
I believe our world is a high school of learning for soul, and that is why we are here, because we aren't perfect!
You will never be closer to God than you are right now.
MIKE'S LAW: YOU ARE AS CLOSE, OR AS FAR FROM GOD AS YOU CHOOSE TO BE, THE DISTANCE YOU FEEL FROM GOD IS IN DIRECT PROPORTION TO HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT YOURSELF.
We have all been taught to feel guilty whenever we screw up. This is a control factor taught by the religions.
Life is nothing more than one huge trial and error experiment. We learn by making mistakes.
By feeling guilty, or ashamed, the natural response is to try and hide from God because we feel unworthy, just as Adam and Eve did after the fall.
We create our own separation from God. To know God you have to let him see you. Of course, we never hide from God, but we shut him out. We need to learn to take responsibility for our actions, but to drop all of the guilt.
Accept yourself, and know inwardly that God does love you...more than you love yourself.
Now love thy self.

Aspiring To Be More Than Human

This world, is nothing more than a large High School, for the maturation of soul. It literally takes thousands of lifetimes to graduate from this school, and to move on as teachers, guardian angels, spiritual guides, or any host of "jobs" which will be of your choosing, after graduation.
Many of my past posts, have pertained to lessons we all must master before graduating. My post on "Real Love", is one such example.
To many in the human state of consciousness, giving love through demonstration, with no thought of reward, or gratitude, seems to be beyond our scope. To be honest, to anyone IN the human state of consciousness, it IS beyond their scope. To be able to give love of this magnitude, one must live in their true state, that of spirit. To do this, one must stop identifying with their human side, and start identifying him(or, her)self as spirit. This is nothing more than a change of attitude. It usually does not happen over night, but if one starts thinking of himself as spirit, a change will come about. This does NOT mean we have to practice austerities of the body, or mind. Remember, as spiritual animals, both sides need attention in order to remain balanced.
We also must remember that there are two different types of love; the human, and the spiritual. Human love, is best demonstrated by the love between two people. It is a love of give, and take; and it is emotional in nature. Because it is emotional, it is subject to change, as anyone who has ever gone through a break up knows. Spiritual love, is the love we all receive from God. This love is eternal, and unchanging. This is the love talked about by Jesus, St. Paul, and every Saint, and Savior, that has ever come to teach mankind. This is the love we aspire to be able to give.
Before any of us graduate from here, we will.

Loving For the Sake Of Love

Wouldn’t it be nice if we loved everyone the way we love our children? We all give our children unconditional love; it is natural to do so. Why can’t we give our mates, our siblings, our parents the same unconditional love? Why can’t we love everyone this way? Unconditional love means that you may not like what someone does, and you may not like them personally, but you love them anyway. If you don’t know what love truly is read what St. Paul has to say about love in 1 Corinthians 13. If everyone loved their spouse in this manner divorce would be rare because forgiveness would be natural. If everyone loved their parents and siblings in this manner there would never be split families because there would never be hurt feelings. If we loved everyone like this there would be no fighting or wars.
This is what I call loving for the sake of love. You love because that is all you can do because you are filled with love.
We all make mistakes, we all sin. We all do hurtful things, and we all say things we don’t really mean. We all do these things, but God still loves us.
We need to strive to be more like God and love everyone regardless of their short comings. The only way we can accomplish this is by shrinking our egos, and our feelings of self importance.
The best way to shrink the ego is to fill yourself with love. The best way to fill yourself with love is to learn how to love and accept yourself and your short comings.
Jesus said “Love God, love yourself, and love your neighbor.” This is very important, not only what he said, but the order in which he said it. To fill yourself with love you must first learn to love God, then you must learn how to love yourself. Only after you have accomplished the first two, will you be able to love others.
Try to find a few minutes each day to connect with God and to send Him your love. Sit quietly and fill yourself with love; you can do this by thinking about someone you truly love. This person can be Jesus, your spouse, your child, your pet, anyone that inspires love for you. Gently sing HU as your song of love to God. This highly charged spiritual word will help open your heart to receive God’s love. Over time you will fill your heart and yourself with love. You will love everyone simply for the sake of love. You will become a shining beacon of love showing others the way of love.

    The Importance Of Enemies

I am not Christian, However, I like to quote Jesus on occasion. "Love thy enemies" he said. Why? Especially in Jesus' time when barbarity, was high in popularity.

Let's face it, the reason someone is an enemy is because that person is an a-hole. But for some strange reason, that person thinks you are an a-hole, and that's why he treats you that way. I have had people decide not to like me that I had never spoken to.

Is it karma that brings two enemies together? Very possibly, but not for the reason you might think. The logical thought would be that the two souls are old enemies from a past life. The truth is that the two souls are extremely close, so close that one is willing to antagonize the other. In other words, one soul accepts his "role" in order to help his friend soul grow.

In life, friends, loved ones, teachers, clergy, all teach us the lessons we need to learn. But, it is the a-holes, demons, and even Satan, that check to see if you have passed the test. Your enemies are the ones that test your true meddle. They are as important to your overall spiritual growth as the teachers, and Saints.

In the grand view of God we are all one, and helping each other evolve up the spiritual scale.

Don't Let the Jones' Get You Down

Jesus said “It is easier for a camel to pass through an eye of a needle, than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” Why is this? Is it because God dislikes rich people? No.

The reason it is so difficult for a rich person to enter into Heaven is because, since they have all of their physical needs met, they are preoccupied with gaining more wealth, or buying the physical pleasures of this world; not with God.

A quick look through the history of the Saints, and Saviors shows that most of them were born into poverty, or gave up their wealth to follow God. It is indeed very difficult to pursue the pleasures of the flesh, and God at the same time.

Before each incarnation every soul makes a decision on what they hope to achieve in their next lifetime spiritually. If a soul knows that he/she is nearing the end of his schooling in this world, he will often choose a harder, or more demanding life in order to pay off karmic debts so that he may move on as a Spiritual Guide, teacher, Guardian Angel, or co-worker with God.

If you are living a life of hard times, where you seem to go from one challenge to the next one; rest assured that you have chosen that life in order to graduate from constant reincarnations. Realize that you are nearing the finish line and are striving to reach it. You are like the horse that can smell water, nothing will keep you from reaching it.

When you see others with their fine homes, cars, and other amenities, don’t be envious of them; just know that YOU have chosen this life in order to gain something much more important…freedom from karma and rebirth. You have chose love over power; you have chose God over material wealth. You are like the marathon runner passing the twenty five mile point, you are tired, and you are dragging; but nothing will keep you from the finish line.

Once you have crossed that line, then you can help others on their long trek to God.

    Into the Mystics

There are many major religions in this world, and all but one has something in common. They all have a savior, or divine Soul that came to teach people about love, and God. The only exception is the Jewish religion who, have not yet recognized their savior, but have had numerous prophets, to teach them the way.

Each of these religions’ focus is directed entirely on their own savior without regard to any of the others. It is as if the followers of all religions were wearing blinders, so they cannot see the lives of the other saviors, prophets, and mystics that have also come to help mankind evolve spiritually. The blinders that the followers wear are so large that they not only do not recognize other saviors, but they fight wars and kill each other over whose savior is the true Son of God.

This is something that all God saturated Souls would be aghast about, and would never want to be associated with.

In the course of human history there have been literally hundreds, if not thousands of these enlightened beings who have come into this world to uplift mankind and teach the lessons of love. Not one of these beings came to start a religion. All religions were started after these souls departed the physical. They were started by their followers, who were not as spiritually advanced, but wanted to spread the words of their beloved.

The purpose of this article is to bring to light a few of these mystics, and saviors, that came, taught, and were often martyred for their efforts. If you are not aware of many of these names, I recommend that you Google them to learn of their teachings, and how they helped the people of their times.

It is time we all took off our blinders and realized there have been many God saturated Souls.
They all are basically teaching the same lesson; love God, love yourself, and love your neighbor as yourself.

Jesus, Krishna, Rama, Mohammad, Buddha, Lao Tse, Zarathustra, Kabir, Rumi, Confucius, Pythagoras, Plato, Rebazar Tarz, Gopal Das, Padre Pio, Lao Tzu, The Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Moses, St. Paul, Paul Twitchell, and Harold Klemp.

These are just a few of the divine souls who have come to help man evolve.

Each of these Souls came to uplift, and teach the peoples of their regions, and times. They all came for one reason; their love for God, and their desire to teach others of that love which will show them the way.

If we can awaken to the similarities of these mystics, we can begin to understand our oneness as a people of God, and not dwell on the supposed differences. We can start loving each other as sons and daughters of God instead of killing each other.

I know all of the above would be very happy with that.

    Karma and Self Responsibility

Does Jesus’ dying on the cross absolve everyone from taking personal responsibility for their actions? If one listens to the TV ministers, and born again Christians the answer is yes. Of course the TV ministers expect you to send them money to become “born again”, and the churches expect you to donate money to them to be accepted; but is this really the case? Does accepting Jesus as your savior absolve you from all of your sins and give you the green light to go to heaven after death no matter what you did before?

I grew up a Catholic and the nuns always taught us that no matter what we had done we would be forgiven of these sins simply by going to confession, and doing what ever penance the priest gave us. Well I never killed anyone, or robbed a bank, so I have no idea what the penance would be if I had; but I can’t imagine that saying 10,000 “Our Fathers” (The Lord’s Prayer), 5,000 “Hail Mary’s”, and 2,000 “Act of Contrition’s” would truly be enough to go to Heaven. We were also taught that it was very important that a priest be summoned to give “The Last Rites” to someone on their death bed so that the dying person could skirt the fires of hell upon death. (I never did figure out how the dying person could say all of the necessary prayers.)

Wouldn't it be idyllic if all of this was true? It would be nice to think that someone’s sacrifice would give me Carte Blanche to do what ever I wanted without repercussions. Think of all the things I could do! All of the lies, the debauchery, stealing, conniving, killing of my enemies I could do. All I would have to do to go to Heaven is to send a check of some of my ill gotten gains to some Church, or minister, or make sure I have a priest handy when I am ready to kick the bucket.

Sounds ludicrous, does it not? We all can believe what ever we want; and the truth is that most of us will believe what ever is most convenient for us.

The spiritual truth is we are all free to do as we want, and that sooner or later we all will go to Heaven. The catch is that there is a karmic price for every action that we do that cannot be absolved, or avoided. This price will be paid either in this lifetime, or in a future one. As we move up the spiritual ladder of awareness we begin to realize this and we learn to temper our behavior. We begin to ask our self “Is this action worth the karmic price I will have to pay?” This is when we start to take control of our lives, and to grow spiritually.

Do as you will, but know that in the end you will be held accountable. Learn to take responsibility for your actions and grow from them.

    With Good Will To All

I have talked about the need to love more than we ever have before. It's true, we do, but how do we accomplish this? After all, it's difficult enough to love those close to us at times, let alone total strangers and our enemies. We need to realize that it is impossible for anyone to love everyone with deep affection. Deep love should be given only to those closest to us: God, your immediate family, and closest friends. The rest of the world we should love through good will.

What is good will, and how do we give it to others?

There are many ways to do this. The first way is to allow everyone to be themselves. In other words, try not to judge others. This is not as easy as it sounds. We all have been raised with certain prejudices and opinions. It is very easy to slot people by their appearance. Long hair on a guy means he's a hippie; lots of tattoos and he's a punker. Then there are a whole slew of racial slants that we are all familiar with. When you see someone different from you, and you automatically slot him or her as this or that, catch yourself, realize that you are judging that person, then decide not to. Send some silent love to that person instead. That is good will.

Another way to practice good will is through acts of kindness. God said, "Whatever you should do for someone else, even the most wretched, you also do for me." In the past I talked about how each and everyone of us is a manifestation of The Holy Spirit in a different state of consciousness. Each and everyone of us, including our enemies, are divine, and should be treated with respect, no matter how ignorant they are of their divinity. When we are disrespected or hurt, be like Jesus and bless them, "for they know not what they do."

There are other ways to show good will; be creative and see how many other ways you can think to give love. Soon it will become second nature, and you will do them without even thinking about it. Every time you demonstrate love you are making a contribution to our collective unconscious, like putting money in a bank. When we have enough people contributing, we will push our collective consciousness into the next level, taking everyone else with us.

How about that for a gift of love?
